Jefferson County Fair
For the last 7 years or so I have been showing my ponies at the Jefferson County Fair. Every year my family and I would be running around packing everything we would possibly need for a week at the fair. My mom would always make a list of all the horse tack, clothing, and other equipment needed. Besides the stressful packing, usually on the night before, the fair week was like a step away from reality. For one week, the fair was all that consumed our minds. We would drive up in the morning for show days and early feeding, eat doughnuts for breakfast and spend all day watching horses go in and out of classes.
Unfortunately, this year was different. I decided not to show this year because of a family wedding that was taking place during the week. Instead, I decided to put my skills to good use and take some show photos for my friends and other fairgoers.
I spent most of my time taking photos on Wednesday, when showmanship, trail, and western riding took place. Right when I got there, my finger was already glued to the camera, clicking away, capturing every moment that passed by. I was in my element. Seeing my friends showing reminded me of how much I missed it. However, this was my first opportunity to take photos at the fair since I wasn’t showing. I’m so glad I had this opportunity to grow and further my experience as an equine photographer!
